What is Pre-Arrangement?
The death experience is one of the
most difficult and stressful times that a family has to face.
Not only is the family dealing with the loss of a dear family
member, but they are also thrust into the arranging of the
funeral service and burial or cremation service. Many times the
family members are very emotional, and not able to make
decisions as clearly as they could under normal life
circumstances.
There is no way that Pine Rest, or anyone, can
take away the pain that comes with the death of a family member.
But we can help to lessen it's effects on the family through a
process called pre-arrangement.
Pre-arrangement is simple. All
of the family's decisions about the cemetery and funeral home
can be made ahead of time, when the family can think more
clearly and without the emotional factors. You select the type
of services you wish to have, the casket and outer burial
container (vault) and headstone. We record all of the details
that we will need when a death occurs...social security numbers,
parents' names, veterans' information, names and addresses of surviviors, and so on. We even record small but very important information such as your favorite hymns and scripture verses, so they can be incorporated into your service.
Pre-arrangement is also typically much less costly that at-need arrangement, for three
reasons. First, when you pre-arrange, you freeze prices, protecting yourself against future
price increases that are sure to come in the future. Second, when you pre-arrange you
have the option of spreading your payments over a long period of time. Families who do
not make arrangements ahead of time face expenses that must be paid in full in a short
period of time. Third, many pre-arrangement plans include substantial discounts, which
will save you even more if you decide to pre-arrange.
The end result of your efforts in making your cemetery and funeral home arrangements
pre-need is that your family won't have to make the many decisions required at a time
when they are emotionally strained. They will have the comfort of knowing that your
wishes will be carried out. Click

Won't My Life Insurance Take Care Of Funeral Expenses?
Most of us have some type of life insurance. It was purchased, in most cases, to provide financial security
or relief to the family when our death occurs. We'd like to make three points about life insurance.
1. Life Insurance Won't Save Your Family From Having To Make Arrangements For The Funeral.
Your policy may cover the expenses, but it won't replace the most important part of pre-arrangement ...
planning the service, selecting the casket and providing all the important information to your funeral
director.
2. Life Insurance Won't Freeze Costs Of Your Funeral and Cemetery Arrangements.
When you pre-arrange with Pine Rest, all of the costs of cemetery property, burial vaults, interment fees,
funeral services and caskets freeze as of the date of the purchase agreement. As prices increase in the
future, your services are not affected. If you rely on insurance proceeds, which typically don't increase
to offset inflation, your family will have to spend a greater percentage of the insurance proceeds for the
cost of cemetery and funeral arrangements.
3. Life Insurance Proceeds Are Best Used To Cover Unforseen Costs.
In all too many cases, all insurance benefits are used up to pay the costs of hospitals, nursing homes,
doctor and nursing bills, ambulances and other costs which cannot be planned in advance. If your
cemetery and funeral home arrangements are made ahead of time, you will have more of the insurance
proceeds to cover those "unknowns."

Reasons Pre-Arrangement is Beneficial
to Your Family . . .
1. You'll be Able to Make Better Decisions.
Pre-arranging is not an emotional process - it's a business decision. Since
you're not in a hurry, you can carefully consider all of your choices,
and select the options that are best for you and your family.
2. You'll be Able to Freeze Costs and Budget Your Purchase. When you
pre-arrange, you freeze costs against future price increases. Pre-need
arrangements can be made on an installment basis, tailored to fit your
budget requirements. If you wait until a death occurs, the entire amount is
due immediately, and could place a financial hardship on your family.
At Pine Rest, our counselors
are trained to be responsive
to the needs of your family in
the pre-arrangement of your
cemetery and funeral home
needs, and to make you
aware of all the options.
3. You'll Save Your Family from Having to Make all the Decisions When a Death
Occurs. When you have made pre-arrangements, there is much less stress on
the family. The plans you have made are carried out, and the family is
relieved from having to make all the decisions at a time when they are
emotionally upset.

Items Included in Pre-Arrangement . . .
For most families, there are 6 items that are
necessary, and all 6 can be pre-arranged at
Pine Rest:
1. Cemetery Property - Pine Rest offers
spaces for ground burial, mausoleum crypts
and cremation niches, depending on your
desires.
2. Funeral Services - The costs of the complete
funeral service, visitation, vehicles and
other staff services.
3. Caskets - Pine Rest has a broad range of
caskets to suit every taste and budget, from
fine hardwoods to solid bronze.
4. Burial Vaults - Vaults are required in
Pine Rest and most modern cemeteries for
ground burials. They protect the casket, and
are available in several types.
5. Headstones or Monuments - Whatever
type of memorial you prefer, we can help
you design a unique memorial for your
family's cemetery property.
6. Interment Fees - The costs of opening
and closing the grave, crypt or niche, and
the other costs involved with the interment,
such as the tent, chairs and other services of
the cemetery staff.
